Kimbo is an Italian company from Naples, founded in the 1960s, that has established itself as one of the leading coffee producers in Italy and worldwide. Born from the vision of the Rubino family, the company has maintained a strong connection to the Neapolitan coffee tradition, focusing on quality, innovation, and passion. Kimbo's vision is to spread the culture of authentic coffee, respecting its origins and ensuring an excellent product on a global scale.
The Challenge
Kimbo was strongly committed to implementing a more structured and transparent ESG management approach, fully aware of the growing importance of environmental, social, and governance issues. The lack of a clear materiality analysis and an integrated monitoring system made it difficult to align with international standards such as MSCI and SASB.
Moreover, the company needed to clearly define its sustainability priorities, identify areas for improvement within existing policies, and ensure that ESG data collection was reliable and compliant with Non-Financial Reporting (NFR) regulations.

The Approach
To address these challenges, Kimbo adopted the ESGeo Suite for a comprehensive and digital management of ESG performance. The project began with a detailed Materiality Assessment, based on the MSCI and SASB frameworks, to identify the most relevant topics for the industry and to benchmark the company’s policies with those of its competitors. Kimbo’s operational context was then defined, and key areas of interest for ESG monitoring were identified. This was followed by a Gap Analysis of existing policies to assess their compliance with ESRS/EFRAG standards.
The ESGeo Suite played a central role in the collection and management of ESG data, enabling the creation of customized reports aligned with the sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda. Through a ESG Digital Governance process, Kimbo was able to monitor ESG performance and facilitate the sharing of information across internal teams, ensuring that all collected data was consistent and validated in real time.
Finally, ESGeo supported Kimbo in structuring its Sustainability Report, proposing a content index that reflected the company’s identity, material topics, and data collection processes.

The Impact
Kimbo, in collaboration with ESGeo, the proprietary ESG suite and consultancy by Avvale, is now able to monitor the progress of the topics identified as material through the materiality analysis, with the aim of improving them over time, effectively communicating them to stakeholders, and consistently pursuing its long-term objectives.
Thanks to the Gap Analysis, Kimbo gained a clear overview of the current company policies, highlighting the documentation needed to ensure compliance with ESRS/EFRAG standards.
Finally, the digitalization of data collection through the ESGeo Suite has radically transformed Kimbo’s ESG performance management: the process has become more efficient and transparent, with several operational steps automated, significantly reducing processing times and improving data accuracy.
